Who We Are

Established in 2020, The Black Veterinary Association of Canada (BVAC) was founded to be the unified voice of Canada's Black veterinary community. Historically, Canada's veterinary profession has not adequately reflected its cultural, ethnic and racial diversity. BVAC believes that diversity is crucial and beneficial to every society and that nations are truly enriched when their institutions and industries reflect the makeup of the peoples that they serve.

Our Goals

BVAC aims to enhance diversity, equity and inclusion by inspiring and enabling Canada's Black youth to pursue careers in animal health. In collaboration with partners in education, business, non-governmental organizations, professional associations and the Black community, the members and directors of BVAC provide guidance, support and mentorship to Black youth.

We Are Here To Help

If you are a company, association or educational institution in animal health looking to review and updating your Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) policies consulting with affected groups is a vital part of this process. BVAC is there to help and we can put you in touch with one of our members.
